Do you love apocalyptic stories? Zombies? Chaos? People banding together? Romance in the time of tragedy? AMAZING characters? Great story?
Well, if you don’t this might not be the story for you. But if you do……
WHY have you not read this series yet (well at least the first couple of books since the last one just came out)?
I am gonna try not to do spoilers, but if I do, I apologize like crazy.
Book 1- Mordacious
We meet our leading lady Sylvie who is with her friend Grace at the hospital when all the craziness starts. They meet a hodgepodge of characters at the hospital that end up shaping the entire series. One being the incredible Maria Diaz, yes that Maria, who is actually Penny and Ana’s mother from the Until the End of the World Series (which side note, you should totally read this series too!!)
Also mentioned in the other series is Eric, who is Cassie’s brother and is trying to find her.
This first story is all about finding oneself in the middle of PURE craziness and figuring out what is important.
Thoughts on this book:
I absolutely loved this as an intro book. I love the characters, that this was a dual POV with Sylvie and Eric, and the story line. This is a fairly long book compared to other Post Apocalyptic Books, but I felt that the author did a great job of including small things that would play bigger parts in the books to come.
Book 2- Peripeteia
This book picks right up at the end of the first book. You can really see the character’s unravel and get a feel for them. These are real freaking people, not military or bad@sses, but real day to day people trying to survive the freaking zombie apocalypse which makes it an even better read. The relationships that are forged (not just between the two main characters but also side characters) are beautiful and even a bit scary as you know that not everyone is going to live.
On the flip side, what are the most important things during a Zombie attack? 1. Shelter 2. Weapons 3. Food. Finding a shelter that you can defend is a bit hard, but finding food on a freaking island with limited resources– just a bit of a problem. What happens when more than one group needs food to support their people? You can probably figure that one out yourself, but mostly you learn that some people just freaking suck.
All together thoughts on this book:
It is a middle of a trilogy so there will be a little slow time in it, it did not take away from the book for me as I really enjoyed getting to know the characters more. Again the realness of the characters is just amazing to read about.
Book 3: Instauration
Y’all, I had been waiting a freaking year for this book to come out and boy did it not disappoint! Fair warning it is a long book- basically two in one. As much as I loved the first two books they did not even COME CLOSE to this book! I am a huge sucker for good endings, granted it isn’t going to be all sunshine and roses at the ending of a freaking zombie apocalypse book, BUT Sarah did a great job of tying up all loose ends. I can say that I was pleased with the ending even though I definitely did not see it coming at the beginning of the book.
Well she tied up the loose ends after showing us 2 MAJOR PLOT TWISTS…. well maybe 3 or 4, but definitely 2 that takes you back to the first book of the series.
All together thoughts on the book and series in general:
Sylvie and Eric do not have it easy and you know what- I loved that! You would think that having Zombies as neighbors would be the hardest thing going against their relationship, but nope. To me this proves again that they are real people and not perfect shiny hero and heroine.
I laughed, I cried, I cussed people out, I wanted to hug some other people, and honestly I just had all the feels reading this.
Final thoughts- GO READ THIS SERIES NOW! IT IS ON KINDLE UNLIMITED FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE.

Oh Side Note: I tweeted about Instauration and Sarah tweeted me back and I gotta say it meant the freaking world to me which is one of the reasons she is my first review on my blog. I have a pretty new twitter account and it just made my day and really validated what I am trying to do to spread the word about great books!
