Want a delicious RomCom in the Man’s POV? Read Now!!!

This book was absolutely hilarious. From the characters, to the plot, to the sub plot, it was extremely enjoyable! This definitely took a new light at the fake dating thing. Not only is Josh pretending to be in a relationship but it is with his MALE best friend! I was either laughing my butt off, groaning at the awkward situations, or getting a little heated by the sex scenes during this entire story. I recommend this book/series if you need to take a break from reality with a little RomCom! Read the Amazon Blurb and my thoughts below.

Rie Warren delivers a steamy, humorous romance with one hell of an alpha male bad boy.

Hell on wheels meets hell in high heels.

Bad boy mechanic Josh Stone likes to get his hands dirty any way he can—the filthier, the better. Ever since his wife walked out on him and their young son, he’s only had room in his heart for two loves: the kid and cars.

Roped into playing his best buddy’s gay boyfriend during a romance writers convention, the player meets the girl who’s gonna rock his world. Leelee Songchild. Shy, bashful, beautiful Leelee who blushes at the drop of a hat yet writes hardcore smut to rival Josh’s backlist of Penthouse Forum.

The only problem is his hands are tied. Josh can’t stab his old friend/fake lover in the back even though all he wants to do is take luscious Leelee to bed, and maybe, love her. When the truth comes out, all hell breaks loose.

Too bad romance is just for books.

My Thoughts <3

This was interesting to me that it is told entirely from the male POV and we did not see inside our female’s head. I liked it though because it was different. Also, Josh Stone is absolutely freaking hilarious in his head, maybe it isn’t too bad getting into guy’s heads!

Characters:

Josh Stone is a man’s man plan and simple. He owns a garage and loves fixing up things of beauty in the south. Boy is he a charmer with that Southern accent (SWOON!!!). He is a daddy to a small little boy who absolutely owns his heart. He was burned by his baby’s mama, who he married and then she decided to skip town on him and their son, JJ. This left a sour taste in his mouth and decided he would not let anyone else in and kept his “free time” to be one night a week where he would quite literally hit it and quit it right after.

His best friend, Nick, is a paranormal romance writer that stepped up to help him raise his son when his baby’s mama walked out of his life, so needless to say he owed him one. Well Nick called that favor in to pose as his gay lover at a Romance Books Convention. Evidently he would be taken more seriously if he understood what ladies would like from their man.

LeeLee is a new author and a part of Nick’s fandom to help spread the word about him and about her. She is a complex but also a super strong character but in the best way possible, she is not a pushover. As I said before, it was odd not getting in the head of the female protagonist, but it also kept you guessing more! LeeLee was dumped by her “perfect” fiance after finding out that he was gay and preferred males over the vag. Needless to  say, this would not be a cakewalk for Josh to get to know her. She lent him one of her books and it also held some secrets into figuring her out as well as seeing she had a dirty mouth!

Nick also gets his own paragraph here even though we mentioned him before. He was not a part of the lovefest (for the most part lmao), but he was a strong secondary character and almost stole the show a few times.
He is deeply ingrained in Josh’s life and family and their bromance was absolutely freaking adorable.

Plot/Final Thoughts:

Nick brings Josh as his plus one to the convention and they have to spend a week pretending that they are lovers. Josh was told to keep it in his pants since he was posing as a taken man and thought that he would not have any issues with this. That is until he meets LeeLee. The attraction was instant and since he was not able to do anything sexual he started getting to know her and since she thought he was gay, she let him in a little. Even though she was clearly attracted to him and it seemed like a horrible idea since she was put through the ringer with a similar situation. He starts to genuinely have feelings for her during the worst time ever.

The majority of the book takes place within a week and you find yourself anticipating what was going to happen next. The backstory and events was delivered extremely well by Rie Warren. I felt as if I was getting a glimpse into the life of an author during these conventions, and I liked it!

I really enjoyed reading this and when I was not spitting out my coffee by laughing so hard, the realistic moments gave me the feels.

So, does Josh keep it in his pants and keep Nick’s secret?

Does LeeLee want more from him as well?

HOW DOES IT END?
