I have never read this author or too many books about cartels, but I am a huge fan of MC books, so I figured it would be similar.
I was right! This was a great start to a series and definitely sparked my interest for the rest of the series. This book is dark and gritty and also gives you the feels too, which you would not suspect at all!!
Kyle’s role is enforcer and I am familiar with the term from MC series in which this guy is a basically hardcore as heck and enforces the rules and safety of the group. Meaning, he has to make some hard decisions and close himself on while he does. Combine this aspect with him being an ex marine and a dark ops expert, just wow. I personally think he is absolutely amazing, just fiercely loyal and someone you want on YOUR side!
Chloe is a drug courier that ended up in the Zeta territory, which if you can imagine, was not the best things for her. She somehow ends up having Kyle take her home as a “bonus”
The story is extremely intricate with ends and outs and you do not want to miss it. I love all of the twists and seeing the interaction between Chloe and Kyle.

So, I totally thought that “The Bonus” was amazing, then I read “Songbird” and it blew my freaking mind by how great it was! 5 out of 5 for SURE!
We first met Arturo in the first book in which he was portrayed as an interesting man. Leading a cartel is hard work, he HAS to appear strong and make tough choices to make sure that he does not appear weak but on the flip side, he is fiercely loyal to not only his family, but also with his inner circle. Maintaining this balance is extremely hard, but you can see the amazing man behind the monster in this book.
Solitaire was just wow. I have read numerous books with strong women and have always enjoyed them, but she definitely takes the cake. She is extremely smart, tough, beautiful, and into some interesting things in the bedroom- which Arturo appreciates all of these qualities and rightfully so. This girl has been through some pretty awful stuff and truly did not have anyone that she could rely on, which definitely gave you the feels.
These two were so perfect for each other, but there are lots of twists and turns that AJ Adams throws your way which makes it so much better.
PLEASE READ THIS BOOK, so that you can enjoy it as much as I did!

This book is enemies to lovers through and through and I LOVED IT!
Quique is an honorable man, who loved his wife…. until he found her cheating on him. Not only that but the hag blamed him for all of it and spread around vicious rumors and making Quique look like a putz to his team.
He is is different from the previous men in the series in that he knows he that he has a heart, even though he does not want it anymore. Needless to say, I freaking loved him.
Natalia has had a really horrible go as well. She is stuck in her life because she is so caring and honorable herself. She puts her family, even though it is not technically HER family, more so her ex’s family, before all others. People know that they can go to her with their troubles and they will be taken care of.
The two of them together was like this masterful dance full of straight up craziness. They are so perfect for each other and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book.
If you like your book boyfriends honorable, dark, and hot as heck— you would like this!!

Wowzers! If I thought the other books in the series were a little dark, welcome to Dark Hunter–such an aptly named title!
Rip was not born into the Cartel life or anything similarly to it. He had some major bad stuff go down growing up and it shaped him into a killing machine. Legit, he had NO emotions at all and very much so enjoyed taking his revenge. He had no loyalties just vengeance on his mind.
Morgan is a straight shooter that actually grew up in the Cartel life, but wanted nothing to do with it and just wanted the picket fence kind of life. She had a run in with a guy from her past and that all went down in flames.
Rip rescued Morgan and saw his helpfulness with her as an opportunity to not let his crazy show too much to the Zetas, who value women.
This story is not easy, but it is full of wonderful turns. If you have read the rest of the series, you are going to love this next installment that has cameos from the rest of the crew.
If you have not read the other stories, this is a standalone, but it is more fun having the background from the other books.
