She doesn’t fit in anywhere, but finds herself strangely drawn to the boy she watches view the world through a telescope.

Finnley Crawford isn’t your typical boy next door. Being autistic has always set him apart from kids his age. None of them quite knows how to approach him or interact, leaving him only one friend in the form of his support dog. His lack of friendships lead him to a unique love of space and aspirations of one day reaching the stars. For in the stars, he sees a peace and beauty he can’t find on Earth.

The more time these two seemingly opposite teenagers spend together, the more they learn it isn’t what’s on the outside that counts. So much can be found on the inside if you only care to look.

My Thoughts <3

Every now and then you stumble on a book that is special. That bleeds emotion and you cannot help but feel exactly what the characters are feeling and get completely lost in the story. Whatever Happens is one of those books and I cannot convey enough how amazing this book is!

Violet is one of the best leading ladies that I have read in a long time. We start the book with her moving to a new town with her parents after the suicide of her younger sister. This event has changed her outlook on everything and you can tell during her interactions. She is more withdrawn and more so watching others and evaluating instead of being the popular one that everyone wants to be, which she used to be. There is one person that she is interested in though, her neighbor Finn.

Finn has always been looked at as being different. Since he is autistic, most people do not know how to interact with him and that has limited the interactions that he has. This and being in HS is definitely not a good combination, because let’s face it, people can be so cruel.

All in all, the road for Violet and Finn to even gain a friendship is hard, but it is absolutely beautiful to read about it unfolding. This is not your typical YA romance read, it makes you think but it also gives you hope and a beautiful story. Again, I cannot stress enough that you NEED to read this book!!

Thank you so much to Micalea Smeltzer and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an ARC to read and review this book honestly!

Author Bio

Hi. I’m Micalea. Ma-call-e-uh. Weird name, I know. My mom must’ve known I was going to be odd even in the womb. I’ve written a lot of books. Like a lot. Don’t ask me how many, I don’t remember at this point. I have an unhealthy addiction to Diet Coke but I can’t seem to break the habit. I listen to way too much music and hedgehogs have taken over my life. Crazy is the word that best sums up my life, but it’s the good kind of crazy and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
