Want a story with heart and some ‘fake dating’ too?

Wow! I read a few days ago that this book was going to be released and was extremely excited when I got the email saying it was out. That excitement only grew after I started reading the book. It was REALLY good!

As we all know, in the romance books biz, fake relationships never stay fake relationships.
This book had a fresh new take on the idea that I greatly appreciated.

I give this book a solid 5 out 5. I enjoyed it and there was not one aspect that I would change.

Read below the blurb from Amazon and why I would not change a thing!

Help Wanted: Asset Acquisitions Manager
• Able to secure funding for target companies
• Advanced negotiation skills
• Pretend to be client’s girlfriend
• Red hair highly preferred

Rae
Lucas thinks I’m the perfect woman.
The perfect woman to make his ex-girlfriend jealous.

I’ll pretend I’m his, and he’ll sell my company his revolutionary dating app.

He’s as hot as he is brilliant, so the lie isn’t hard to sell.
I just hope I don’t get more than I bargained for.

Like a seriously broken heart.

Lucas
This private equity firm knew what they were doing when
they sent a smoking hot redhead to acquire my company.
And I know just what to do with her.

I need to win back my ex, and Rae’s got all the assets necessary to make her jealous.

Like her long legs, dangerous curves, and soft lips.
Pretending she’s mine won’t be hard.
Forgetting she isn’t might be.

My Thoughts <3

This is a standalone but apart of the Lone Star Lovers Series by Taylor Holloway. I have read the other books in the series and I like how the author has an epilogue at the end of the book before setting the scene for the next book (I will talk more about this later on)! I knew after I read Kiss Me Like You Missed Me that I could not wait for Lucas’ book. And boy did it not disappoint.

Main Characters:

Lucas is a genius that developed a dating app that can connect people based on their musical preference. It sounds absolutely crazy, but it DOES work! He is a hot and sexy nerd that is still into his famous rockstar ex girlfriend. He gets it in his mind that Victoria, his ex, just needs a gentle push to get back together with him. He is pretty down to Earth and when it comes out the reasoning for why he still loves her and wants to get back together with her is extremely heart warming, but misguided.

Rae is a powerhouse working for an acquisitions company that is coming in to help Lucas sell his business to take care of things that he is not able to do himself to take the app to the next level. She is a genuinely great person, but has been working so hard on being successful that she does not have many friends and definitely no potential relationships. I love how strong but also soft she can be in the right moments.

Plot:

Lucas sees Rae and immediately sees the reddish blonde hair and it takes him back to when he first began seeing Victoria. He knows that jealousy is a huge factor that could help push Victoria to be with him. He tells Rae that he can guarantee that he will go with her company for the acquisition if she decides to “fake date” him to make his ex jealous. Rae is a logical thinker as well and I really like how she thinks things out before she says or does anything (even if this could hinder her socially as well). She sees this as the stepping stone to by pass years of working under an awful boss to gain a promotion, so says yes to him.

And thus the story really begins to get interesting!

Final Thoughts:

I liked how real the characters were. Yes, it was a “fake dating” book and we all know how it is going to end, but it is the story in between that really matters. I sometimes want to yell at my kindle when characters do REALLY stupid things with books that I read. With Lie With Me, I only wanted to slap a couple of the characters on the back of the head a few times *COUGH LUCAS COUGH* but at least no yelling! Everything progressed naturally and not rushed even with conflicting emotions and desires in the mix.

All in all, I REALLY enjoyed this book and think that you will too.

Check it out on Kindle Unlimited HERE!

Thanks,

PS: The author wrote an epilogue for one of the leading characters in the next book Run Away With Me that has me wanting more. You better believe I will snatch that sucker up as soon as I can! X
