Gut wrenching story about how to learn to love yourself!

This is the 4th book in a series by Terri E Laine, I LOVED the other books, but this one is the one that really compelled me to right my thoughts down about it. I highly recommend reading them in order, you do not have to as they are standalones, but if you are like me and enjoy books in series that build on each other please read in this order: Chasing Butterflies, Catching Fireflies, Changing Hearts, and then last but definitely not least Craving Dragonflies.

One night … one kiss … one touch … will change everything.

One of us is innocent and the other far from it.

College senior Willow Young has two goals this year: to graduate and lose her v-card. The first seems easy and the second almost impossible. Guys don’t notice her when Celeste, her roommate and step-sister, is considered the hottest girl on campus. When Ashton Westborough, a gorgeous football player, comes to her rescue in more ways than one, she stupidly falls hard for him even though the walls to his heart are impenetrable.

When they end up in his room… his bed, he’s powerless to stop what happens next.

Ashton has no intention of playing professional football after graduation no matter how good he is. Though he has no idea where the future will lead him, anywhere is better than the shitty childhood he endured. One thing he knows for sure is that he’s done with love. The idea of using mindless sex to forget the past maybe the best idea. When Willow and her mass of sunlit curls repeatedly find their way in his tortured thoughts, he vows not to let his darkness consume her. After one sizzling night together, he’s the one surprised to find himself unable to let go.

My Thoughts:

Good gracious, Terri created an amazing gut wrenching world with her books. We were introduced to Ashton in the very first book and it became apparent that this was not a happy go lucky college kid. We got to know him a little more throughout the second book and DEFINITELY in the 3rd book as well. He is a beautiful soul that does not know what love is because he was never shown it his entire life. I do not want to get too much into the backstory that includes his Best Friend, Sawyer, who was the lead in the 3rd book, but it is still applicable. Sawyer is the only person Ashton had to count on when he grew up and he has to try to figure out how to sort through those feelings by himself without the help of the only person who has been there for him. THIS BOOK WILL MAKE YOUR HEART CLINCH FOR ASHTON. He tries so freaking hard to figure himself out, you want to just go into the pages and give the guy a hug with how unfair his life has been but how he has risen above it.

Willow is used to being second best and treated like the ugly stepsister. She always felt inferior and passed over once any guy she was remotely into meets her stepsister, Celeste. Celeste is not a bad person at all, but you can tell she is spoiled and used to getting her way even though you can tell she genuinely loves Willow. Willow is an amazing character for all of the crap she got handed to her, she still tries to look on the positive side. I love that she is a science nerd that loves Dragonflies and when she explains why, it was so sweet! She is ready to stand up for herself though and you just wanna cheer her on because you can see her backbone and not going to be a pushover anymore.

Willow and Ashton keep meeting by chance, which is absolutely hilarious how they just happen to keep popping up in the same places. You can see them slowly start to make a friendship with each other as they understand what it feels like to be on the outside looking in. It is beautiful how they react to each other and you can see from both of them that it is a genuine connection. They truly need each other and watching them open up and seeing their love story gives you ALL THE FEELS. Thank you for this beautiful book and series Terri Laine, I will definitely be keeping up with what comes next!
